Nebula Drift

Nebula Drift by Simon Wilkinson

Nebula Drift is a 23 minute long ambient space music track with a dark and quietly epic atmosphere. Particularly suitable as atmospheric instrumental background music for space documentaries and sci-fi feature film soundtracks or any films with a science fiction or other worldly outer space theme.

Dark Ambient Space Music: Nebula Drift (preview) by Simon Wilkinson

Also for fans of longform ambient music such as Brian Eno’s Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks or artists like Steve Roach, Lustmord, Thomas Koner, Biosphere, Stars Of The Lid, Tangerine Dream etc.

As well as being available to license for use in your documentary and film soundtracks, this long evolving piece of music is the perfect soundtrack to imaginary dark and mysterious eerie sci-fi landscapes and galaxies.

It makes ideal calming background music for meditation, study, relaxation, ASMR, sleep training or yoga. Many people also find it good atmospheric background music to listen to while playing roleplaying space games or as unobtrusive background music for inspiration when painting or writing.

“Take your next trip (drift) through the thick and mysterious nebulous space. While both mysterious and foreboding, there is also a reassuring angelic voice that holds you in the precarious place between safety and danger.”

Brian Bourassa

“Dark soundscape just the way I like it! I am so pleased I downloaded all of Simon’s work, truly wonderful space music.”

Gideon Morley

How Far Away Is It – A Video Book By David Butler

How Far Away Is It - 03 - The Solar System (1080p)

How Far Away Is It is a video book by David Butler that examines the Hubble space telescope and details the distance between objects in our galaxy. The video is split into several chapters covering the Earth, the Solar System and the Heliosphere and you can watch the whole thing for free on YouTube and also on the official website at howfarawayisit.com

The video has been up for a while but only just come to my attention (my music track Exodus is featured several times in the video, as can be heard in the video clip above). It’s a fascinating and beautifully put together project about astrophysics, cosmology and the scale of the universe.

How Far Away Is It is a video book of Hubble and other space and ground based telescope pictures together with an illustrated explanation of how we know how far away these objects are -- from your back yard to the most distant galaxies. How Small Is It takes you from your backyard to the smallest things that exist and covers the Higgs Boson.”

David Butler

The project has obviously been lovingly put together by David with a lot of care, experience and knowledge and it’s a fascinating look at the scale of our galaxy. A great learning resource about our galaxy and well worth a watch!

A New Arrival

A New Arrival by Simon Wilkinson

Dark mysterious pulsing science-fiction themed electronic track. Starts with swirling synth washes before introducing pulsing electronic bass notes with flowing synth arpeggios, drums and percussion. Would work well for mysterious background music, end credit sequences or for building suspense and drama. License this sci-fi themed instrumental music track for use in your documentaries, films and videos by selecting from the options above.

Without Bound – Perspectives On Mobile Living Documentary

Without Bound - Perspectives on Mobile Living (Documentary)

Without Bound is a fascinating documentary film from filmmaker Michael Tubbs about mobile living that features some of my royalty free music in the soundtrack. The film focuses on the lives of people who have decided to live independently in trailers and mobile homes by using their own alternative resources and off-grid facilities.

The film offers an insight into the perspectives of those who choose to live their lives free from the economic ties that most of us are familiar with. It’s well worth a watch just to remind us that there are alternative options and lifestyle ambitions rather than just big homes, fancy cars and the latest gadgets. You can find out more about Michael’s work and other projects at:
