Asylum

Asylum by Simon Wilkinson

Creepy horror music with sparse piano, ghostly background washes of eerie sound effects and childlike music box tinkling. Dark, eerie and unsettling background music for horror films, modern supernatural thrillers and dark documentaries needing an ominous air of dread.

Bad Memories

Bad Memories by Simon Wilkinson

Dark and melancholy instrumental solo piano music with sparse washes of spooky atmospheric background sound. Solemn and serious music with an eerie atmosphere.

Bad Memories is a haunting and creepy solo piano music soundtrack that’s ideal for modern supernatural horror films (e.g. similar in feel to films like The Ring, The Others etc.) or dark atmospheric dramas and documentaries.

Los Olvidados By Manuel León Caballero

Los Olvidados is a low budget slasher movie from Spanish indie filmmaker Manuel León Caballero. This is Manuel’s very first feature film and it was included in the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival 2014. You can now watch the full film on Vimeo above (which features my instrumental piano track Cursed in the credits).

Los Olvidados is a little slasher movie shot with no money, no crew and in just seven days. After its premiere in the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival 2014, here comes its free release on the internet.”

The Gondolier

The Gondolier by Simon Wilkinson

The Gondolier is a slow and mysterious 2 minute instrumental piano track also featuring harp, strings, violins, cello and flute.

Introspective and delicate music with a feel of Venice and hints of darkness and intrigue that would be ideal background music for reflective films or pensive human interest documentaries. A shadowy gondolier punts through the canals and backwaters of Venice as the waters gently lap around the gondola.

High Altitude Ballooning By Michael Mönch

High Altitude Ballooning

Check out this cool high altitude ballooning video from Michael Mönch which uses a weather balloon and 2,000 litres of helium to film a journey up to the outer reaches of the earth’s atmosphere. When the balloon finally bursts due to the low pressure at over 30,000 metres high, a parachute brings the camera safely back to earth and is located via GPS.

My ambient space music track Coronal Mass Ejection is used in the video.

Asche & Spencer: The Making Of Monster’s Ball Soundtrack

Making the Music for "Monster's Ball"

As promised in the previous post, here’s a great featurette showing how composer team Asche & Spencer created the beautiful and hypnotic music soundtrack to the film Monster’s Ball, starring Billy Bob Thornton and Halle Berry.

The video shows how the team of composers worked to create a classic ambient and highly atmospheric score using guitar drones, piano and atmospheric soundscapes -- I love this soundtrack!

Make Up Your Mind

Make Up Your Mind by Simon Wilkinson

Dark, downbeat, atmospheric and contemplative with an air of downtempo melancholy that sounds a bit like Lou Reed, Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen or Bob Dylan. Written and sung by Mr Bennett – produced and arranged by Simon Wilkinson.
